Morpeth Harriers Senior Mens squad emerged
with a great deal of credit from their performances
at the English National 6 Stage Road Relays
held at Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield on Saturday 17th October.

Morpeths A team finished in a well earned seventh place, and also first of the four competing North East clubs on the day.

At the 2009 Northern Athletics Mens 6 Stage
& Womens 4 Stage Road Relay Championships, held at
Leeds Met University
Carnegie Campus
on Saturday 26th September,
Morpeth Harriers Senior Men finished fourth
and our Womens team finished eleventh.

Our photographer was there to capture the Morpeth athletes in action as well as some of the other runners taking part.

A record number of 356 finishers completed the A-Belco sponsored
Morpeth 10k Road Race on Tuesday 4th August in ideal conditions,
and they were led home by a very speedy Serod Batochir who
completed the two lap course round Tranwell Woods, in a time of 30m28s.

Two sets of Silver Medals were won by the respective Men and Womens teams of Morpeth Harriers at the 2009
North East Counties Royal Signals Road Relays,
held at Gateshead's Watergate Park
Nature Reserve on Saturday 21st March.

Morpeth Harrier Nick Swinburn capped an excellent first season as a Senior athlete when he finished eleventh in the main feature at the Saucony English National Cross Country Championships held at the events ancestral home, Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath, London on Saturday 21st February.

Morpeth Harriers Senior Mens squad finished in sixteenth place.

Morpeth Harriers held their Veterans Grand Prix Presentation Night
on Thursday 12th February at the Joiners Arms in Morpeth.

The event was once again hosted by Tony Woodcock,
(Tony Woodcock Planning Consultants) and his wife Pam,
who are currently in the third year of their sponsorship of the event.

Unfortunately the poor wintry conditions meant that some were unable to attend,
however those who got to the venue saw Doug Cockburn,
(Chairman of Morpeth Harriers & AC) present recipients with their awards.

Despite missing some key athletes,
Morpeths Men and Womens squads
battled hard in the heavy mud at St Helens
at the North of England XC Championships
on Saturday 24th January.

Morpeth's best team placing
on the day went to our Under 17
Womens team, who finished fifth,
They were led home by Zoe Armstrong
who is at long last getting back to the
form that she is known for.

at the Durham Cathedral
Cross Country Relays on
Sunday 18th January,

New Year began on an enthusiastic and somewhat
happy note when 130 plus runners
stripped for action in the annual
Morpeth Harriers 11k Road Race.

With temperatures just above freezing point,
and bright sunshine making its presence,
it led to a cheery start to the 2009
athletics programme for the Harriers,
and they were pleased to see their
very own Nick Swinburn come home
in 33m36s as the race winner.
