| New Year began on an enthusiastic and somewhat
happy note when 130 plus runners stripped for action in the annual Morpeth Harriers 11k Road Race. With temperatures just above freezing point, and bright sunshine making its presence, it led to a cheery start to the 2009 athletics programme for the Harriers, and they were pleased to see their very own Nick Swinburn come home in 33m36s as the race winner.
